Back to work on the WordPress plugin for viewing the Lessons API. It works in a nice closed environment. Needs to be tweaked specifically for use on ECR plus (or probably first) needs some styling of the info being returned. I get all of the Lesson node object and all of the authors’ user object, so I have plenty of data to work with.

Tweaked NS Cloner plugin to copy media library files to the newly cloned site. Also reduced the privileges needed to create a clone so that anyone with the right role could do it. Puts me on the path for that big red “Clone Me!” button that we need.

Working on cloning for Classcaster and ECR sites. Goal is to allow privileged members the ability to make a complete clone of a site.
A new plugin, NS Cloner, was released today that promises to make this process easier. It gives the network admin the ability to clone any site. It does an excellent job, but it ignores media files. To copy existing media files from parent to clone is straight forward. The plugin already handles all of the reference to the media files.

On to ebooks! Final prepping of 2013 editions of the Fed Rules from LII for release on eLangdell. Seems like I had some scripting sitting around to generate the toc.html file that Calibre uses to generate a working ToC in the .mobi conversion process. Checking my notes.

Fixed a bug in the layout of the ECR ToC page so that things are ordered by term id instead of term slug. There is going to be an issue in this if someone wants to re-order the outline. Right now it depends upon a specific id order to control layout. That needs to change at some point. Will likely need a sequence number added to terms.

Turns out unpacking the Fastcase Advance Sheets .MOBI version is pretty straight forward. There’s a hunk of python for that at http://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Mobi_unpack. Once unpacked it’s all about processing the HTML into individual opinion files.
It would be nice to use the .EPUB files, but at the moment those are locked away in iBooks.

    Building ECR Topic Sites

Here are the steps for creating ECR Topic sites. This should be a pretty detailed outline of what needs to be done.

    • Remove block on topic name
      • most “top level” subject names are reserved by the system.
    • Create Classcaster blog
    • Set theme to eLangdell
    • Configure theme
    • Activate plugins
      • Anthologize
      • Audio Plugin
      • Bulk Slug and Description update
      • Category import
      • Easy stats
      • Hackadelic sliding notes
      • Improved simpler CSS
      • Login redirect
      • My link order
      • WordPress video plugin
    • Convert topic grid into text formatted for category import
    • Paste text into category import, test to make sure it lays out properly and then add categories
    • Add “Press this” tool to browser bookmark bar, rename to match topic
    • Open subject outline page on CALI website
    • Follow link to each Lesson and use “Press this” tool to add Lesson description to blog. Link each Lesson to the category it matches
    • For podcasts, use the short tag to embed a payer linked to the MP3.
    • Break eLangdell casebooks for subject into chapters in Word
    • Publish each chapter to blog from inside of Word linking to appropriate category
    • Use db to locate appropriate cases for inclusion.

ECR sites will include Lessons, podcasts, chapters, cases, and questions. Maybe even a crossword puzzle or 2.
